Choosing leather dining chairs, for every day at the table.
Leather, soft leather or faux
Many chairs here come in leather, faux leather and fabric on the same frame, so you can choose by use. Cattelan Italia calls its soft leather a natural material: uneven wrinkles and small marks are signs of its quality. It can fade slightly in direct sun or near heat. Its synthetic leather and synthetic nubuck contain no animal material and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Our product pages name the country where each chair is made, and for the chairs here it is Italy.
Height, arms and depth
Dining comfort is mostly about measurements. Where houses list seat heights, most fall between 45 and 48 cm (18 to 19 in). Arm heights run from about 61 to 68 cm (24 to 27 in). Check them against the underside of your table, so the chairs can slide in. Seat depths, where listed, run from 41 to 47 cm (16 to 18 in). Some chairs, such as Cattelan Italia's Anna, also come in a high-back version.
Frames and bases
Look at what carries the leather. Bonaldo's Joy has a solid ash frame, and Cattelan Italia's Belinda an ashwood frame in natural, walnut-stained, burned-oak-stained or black finishes. Cattelan Italia's Alessia sets leather on a slim steel frame. Peressini Casa, a seating specialist from Friuli, offers one shell on many bases: Akila lists thirteen. Some chairs swivel and return to place, like Cattelan Italia's Tyler. Bontempi's Chantal offers swivel bases with or without casters.
Covers and care
Leather covers are usually fixed. Cattelan Italia's Anna, for example, has removable fabric covers, while its soft leather, micro nubuck and synthetic leather covers are fixed. Cattelan Italia's care notes for soft leather: dust with a soft, dry cloth. Treat stains at once with soapy water or a mild detergent, then rinse and dry. Avoid alcohol, acetone and abrasives, and keep studs and sharp metal off the seat.
Ordering
These chairs are made to order, typically 12–16 weeks. When you request a quote, give the number of chairs, with or without arms, the covering and its color, and the base finish. Send your table's height and model so we can check the fit. We deliver to the 48 contiguous states. Plan a visit to see pieces in person in Royal Oak, MI or Troy, MI.
