Moroso Do-Lo-Rez includes armchair and modular sofa compositions by Ron Arad built from upholstered blocks of different heights.
The stepped arrangement defines seats, backs and ends like enlarged pixels. Polyurethane foam and polyester fiber pad wooden modules above plywood bases, with each individual cover removable. Designer-specified fabric and color combinations reinforce the block pattern, while separate end and central elements establish the size and outline of each seating composition.
Ron Arad studied in Jerusalem and at London's Architectural Association. He co-founded One Off with Caroline Thorman in 1981 and established Ron Arad Associates in 1989. His practice combines architecture, industrial products and studio furniture, with experimentation in materials including steel, aluminum and polyamide.
