Moroso Shadowy includes an outdoor armchair and chaise lounge by Tord Boontje with tall curled backs and scrolling outlines inspired by seaside furniture.
Artisans in Dakar, Senegal, handweave polyethylene cord over painted-steel frames. Looping arms surround the chair's woven seat, while the chaise extends the lounging surface beneath its high curved back. Patterned woven sections emphasize the changes in direction, with glides beneath the ground-contact points.
Tord Boontje studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and the Royal College of Art before establishing his studio in 1996. His practice includes lighting, furniture, textiles, ceramics, graphics and installations. He works across these formats to explore the relationship between objects and their surroundings.
