Moooi Serpentine includes Front’s carpet and suspended light developed from experiments with bent paper.
The carpet prints gradients and shadows across a shaped polyamide surface, creating the appearance of folded ribbons. The light forms a twisting translucent shade from printed nonwoven polyester around a coated-steel pendant. Small and large lamp versions use replaceable bulbs, translating the paper studies into suspended illumination while the carpet keeps their folded effect within a flat floor covering.
Front is the Swedish design studio of Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren. They develop projects together through discussion, research and experimentation. Their objects often examine materials and the design process itself, with work involving methods such as computer-assisted making, robotics and unconventional approaches to shaping furniture.
