Choosing an Italian loveseat, two seats, measured well.
How wide is a loveseat?
Two-seat sofas here vary more than the name suggests. Slide's Low Lita Love is 118 cm wide (46 in), and LaPalma's Add Lounge 152 cm (60 in). Cappellini's Basket two-seater spans 74¾ in, and Ditre Italia's Blum two-seater runs 78¾ to 90½ in, depending on the arm position. Arms change the width as much as seats do. Ditre Italia's Freedom 2.0 comes with arms 9, 10, 16 or 27 cm wide. Measure the wall, then compare overall widths, not seat counts.
Seat height and depth
Where houses list it, seat height runs from a low 34 to 36 cm on Slide's pieces to 52 cm on its Mara. Most others sit between 40 and 45 cm, about 16 to 18 in. Cappellini's Gambetta two-seater is 31½ in deep. Some backs adjust: Ditre Italia's Blum raises or lowers its back on a concealed metal mechanism, with no motor. A few two-seaters also offer power recline or adjustable headrests.
Loveseats that sleep
Several two-seaters open into beds. Ditre Italia's Kanaha 2.0 and Isabel unfold on a steel mechanism without removing the cushions. Their foam mattresses are 16 cm thick and 120, 140 or 160 cm wide, by sofa size. Freedom 2.0 needs 85⅞ in of depth when open, against 40⅛ in closed. Cappellini's Cuba 25 has a pull-out bed with a 132 or 152 cm mattress. Natuzzi Italia's Capriccio folds a 140 × 195 cm mattress into the seat.
Indoors or out
Slide's loveseats are molded polyethylene, made for indoor and outdoor use. Mara is 180 cm wide (71 in) and comes with cushions whose outdoor acrylic covers come off. Rap is 170 cm wide (67 in) and stackable, with an optional waterproof cushion.
Covers, care and ordering
Many loveseats have removable covers, and Cappellini offers replacement covers for Basket and Cuba 25. Pianca's advice for fabric: brush off dust with a very soft brush and check the data sheet before washing. For leather, Natuzzi Italia says to dust with a dry white cloth and blot spills at once. These pieces are made to order, typically 12–16 weeks. When you request a quote, give the model, the width, the cover and its color. We deliver to the 48 contiguous states. Plan a visit to see pieces in person in Royal Oak, MI or Troy, MI.
