Emeco Icon chairs and stools by Philippe Starck use handcrafted recycled aluminum in an armless form with a backrest.
Dining-height chairs and elevated counter or bar stools carry the same compact outline and stack four high. The pieces are made in Hanover, Pennsylvania, with brushed or polished metal surfaces. Hand-brushed versions can be used outdoors, while polished versions provide an indoor option. The shared construction connects dining and elevated seating without changing the family’s basic form.
Philippe Starck's collaboration with Emeco began after he used the manufacturer's Navy chairs in the Paramount Hotel. The partnership produced collections including Hudson, Heritage, Kong, Icon and Broom. These projects are part of his broader furniture design work and explore industrial materials and production methods.
