Ottomans, coffee tables and side tables.
Mater Alder includes stools, side tables and low lounge tables by Patricia Urquiola.
Their Matek bodies combine a biodegradable plastic binder with coffee-shell or wood waste around an internal steel frame. The filler varies with the material version, producing differences in the surface. Oval and square lounge tables accompany a taller side table and compact stool, carrying the same molded construction into several indoor seating and table arrangements.
Patricia Urquiola studied architecture in Madrid and Milan, graduating under Achille Castiglioni. She worked with Vico Magistretti and Lissoni before opening her Milan studio in 2001. Her practice encompasses industrial design, architecture, interiors and art direction, including collaborations with Moroso, Flos, Driade and Cappellini.
