Floor lamps and table lamps.
FontanaArte Pirellone / Pirellina pairs Gio Ponti’s floor and table lamps as two scales of a luminous glass column.
Curved pressed-glass panels sit between nickel-plated metal elements at the top and base. Pirellina concentrates the form into a dimmable table lamp. The taller Pirellone adds a separate upward light source, with controls that switch the internal lamps and adjust the indirect upper illumination independently.
Gio Ponti was an architect and designer whose work also encompassed painting, graphics and set design. A graduate of the Politecnico di Milano, he helped establish FontanaArte with Pietro Chiesa in 1932. His designs for the company include the Bilia, 0024 and Pirellone lamps, alongside furniture and architectural projects.
