FontanaArte Uovo brings Ben Swildens’s egg-shaped glass lamp into corded and rechargeable table versions.
The original uses satin blown glass above a discreet metal base and comes in three sizes with dimmable light. Uovo Portable surrounds an integrated LED with a glass shell and adds touch controls and USB charging. The portable version is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, while both retain the rounded, slightly asymmetric egg silhouette.
Ben Swildens is a Dutch designer who studied decorative arts in Paris, graduating in 1961. He collaborated with glass artist Max Ingrand before developing furniture, interiors and architecture through his own practice. His work for FontanaArte includes the Uovo lamp, while his later practice has also encompassed sculpture.
