FontanaArte Scintilla includes pendant and wall lamps by Livio and Piero Castiglioni with exposed metal supports and slender glass light elements.
Clear and sandblasted borosilicate diffusers are supplied, providing two glass treatments around the dimmable source. The suspended version holds the light beneath an open frame, while the wall lamp projects it from a compact fitting. A separately specified aluminum reflector offers an indirect-light option for either format.
Livio Castiglioni trained as an architect at the Politecnico di Milano and established a practice with his brothers Pier Giacomo and Achille. Their work combined architecture, urban planning and industrial design. A cofounder of ADI, he also developed the Scintilla lighting system for FontanaArte with his son Piero.

He graduated in Milan in 1970 and worked with his father, Livio, on architectural lighting and fixtures. His work for FontanaArte includes the Scintilla system and the Parola collection designed with Gae Aulenti.
