Emeco Lancaster chairs and stools by Michael Young combine solid ash frames with die-cast recycled aluminum seats and backs.
The woodwork is handcrafted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and contrasts with the metal seating surfaces. Chairs stack six high, while counter and bar stools bring the same construction to taller settings. Separate polyurethane seat pads provide either seat-only or seat-and-back coverage. Dedicated replacement glides fit the Lancaster seating models.
Michael Young works in product design from his Hong Kong studio. His collaboration with Emeco explored the combination of wood and metal in a chair assembled from separate components. The project connected his interest in natural materials with the manufacturer's metalworking and woodworking partners.
