Mater Liuku is Maija Puoskari’s pendant family built around ball- and drop-shaped bodies in solid linden wood.
The wooden pendant can hang alone or sit within a mouth-blown glass shade, creating a layered wood-and-glass light. The different silhouettes work individually, in rows or in clusters. Separate glass shades provide matching components for the original pendant, and are sold as glass accessories without the wooden body or suspension parts.
Maija Puoskari is a Finnish designer who graduated from Aalto University in Helsinki in 2009, following earlier training as a florist. Her work draws on observations of nature and includes product and exhibition design. Her projects explore form, function and the detailing of finished objects.

We show Mater by appointment at both showrooms — Royal Oak on Woodward and Troy at the Michigan Design Center. Call ahead and we'll have samples and finishes pulled and waiting.
