Marset Mercer includes pendant, table, wall and ceiling lamps by Joan Gaspar with textile shades enclosed in transparent blown glass.
Pleated cotton or pearl-white fabric appears suspended within the clear outer structure, combining filtered light with glass reflections. Table versions add an opal disc and progressive dimming for compatible bulbs. Other formats use their own supports and external-control arrangements, bringing the layered glass-and-fabric construction to different positions within an interior.
Joan Gaspar studied industrial design in Barcelona and began working in lighting manufacturing in 1988. His collaboration with Marset started in 1996, covering product development and design direction. He opened his own Barcelona studio in 2002 and has taught materials and technology for industrial design.
