Connubia Reef is a lounge armchair and matching ottoman family by Michele Menescardi.
Gathered fabric follows rounded upholstered bodies, with the armchair's back and arms enclosing a broad seat. Recycled polyurethane and polyester padding surround internal wooden structures in both pieces. The separate ottoman provides a footrest or occasional seat and shares the chair's 17 inch sitting height. Its backless rectangular form extends the arrangement without repeating the chair's enclosing upper shell.
Michele Menescardi graduated in industrial design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2004. He founded MrSmith Studio before establishing an independent practice in 2014. His work for Calligaris includes seating, lamps and rugs, connecting experience in product design with collaborations across the furniture sector.
