Calligaris Velo includes sideboards and a two-drawer nightstand with sculpted fronts inspired by moving fabric.
Curving door and drawer surfaces create changing highlights and shadows, giving depth to the rectangular cabinet bodies. Higher and low sideboard formats spread the pattern across living-room storage, with the low version standing 19 inches high. The bedside piece brings the same fabric-like folds to a compact pair of drawers.
Michele Menescardi graduated in industrial design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2004. He founded MrSmith Studio before establishing an independent practice in 2014. His work for Calligaris includes seating, lamps and rugs, connecting experience in product design with collaborations across the furniture sector.
