Sofas and beds.
Calligaris Jill includes a sofa system and upholstered bed by Bernhardt & Vella, both drawing on the full rounded shapes of 1970s furniture.
Sofa padding continues from the back into the arms, with corner components and a chaise lounge extending the available layouts. The bed translates the enclosing form into a broad headboard, offered above either a raised frame on metal feet or a floor-level storage base.
Ellen Bernhardt and Paola Vella founded their Milan studio in 2008. Their work connects product design with interiors, drawing on research into art, architecture and earlier design. The practice approaches individual objects in relation to the spaces around them and works across projects of different scales.
