Pianca Palù by Raffaella Mangiarotti includes a bench, nightstand and occasional chair framed by rounded wooden rods.
Open vertical supports surround the padded bench and chair seats without enclosing their sides. The bench adds a woven-cane shelf beneath its upholstery. On the circular nightstand, a hard-leather drawer pivots outward toward the bed, becoming an additional resting surface. These different functions share the collection's repeated vertical woodwork.
Raffaella Mangiarotti is a Milanese architect and designer who studied with Tomás Maldonado and completed a doctorate in design. After working with Marco Zanuso and Francesco Trabucco, she co-founded deepdesign with Matteo Bazzicalupo. Her product work considers function, ergonomics and how people relate to objects.
