Who makes them

Nicoline is an upholstery house based in Altamura, Puglia, working in both leather and fabric. Nearly every sofa here comes in either. Most are modular, with end pieces, corners and chaises that build into an L or a longer line. On several families, such as Amalfi, Boero and Claire, the module ends are finished, so a side can stand exposed in the room.

Under the cover

Nicoline builds on wooden frames, often of solid fir, some with metal reinforcement. The seats rest on reinforced elastic webbing, and on some models the backs do too. Fillings vary by family. Cortina Plain and Kuba add a memory-foam layer to the seat, and Cadorna and Cairoli add a feather blend. Amalfi uses fiber-filled backs. Seat depth varies as well. Cairoli and Zara come in standard and deep versions, and Bric lists a 24 in seat depth.

Backs and headrests that move

Nicoline offers many ways to adjust the back. Egeo, Monforte and Pacific Square have pendular back cushions. Play and Strauss have backrests that fold inward, and Kuba's backrest can be repositioned. Many families, such as Bolton, Claire, Moorea and Wing, offer manual headrests. Antares has powered headrests that rise by 20 cm (8 in). Canaletto, Pisa and Wagner add powered recliners, and Nicoline offers an optional battery for each powered seat.

Sofa beds and extras

Several sofas open into beds, with foam mattresses 4.7 or 6.3 in thick. Aurora, Kleo and Maya have detachable arms and wheels, and Giotto opens with its cushions left in place. Turati has walnut arm cores. Some families, such as Astedio, Bovisa and Gary, can add marble-topped elements beside the seats. On many leather versions, the seat tops are quilted, while fabric versions stay plain.

Covers and ordering

Many Nicoline sofas have removable covers, though often only on the cushions; check the product page. Nicoline sofas are made to order, typically 12–16 weeks. When you request a quote, list the modules from left to right with the covering and color. Add the legs and any headrests or recliners. We deliver to the 48 contiguous states. Plan a visit in Royal Oak, MI or Troy, MI to talk through Nicoline layouts and coverings.
