Antti Kotilainen is a Finnish furniture designer. He graduated from the Lahti Design Institute in 1995, had been designing for Scandinavian furniture makers since the early 1990s, and founded his design office in Helsinki in 1997. The office specializes in furniture and also takes on products and whole visual identities, from graphics to spaces, in a style he describes as organic functionalism: clean, useful forms, often in wood worked in new ways within the Scandinavian tradition. His Chip chair for the Finnish house Piiroinen is distributed in North America by Knoll, and his Aatos and Aava seating are made by Arper; his furniture has been chosen for public spaces across Europe, the United States, Australia and Japan, and he has received the Chicago Athenaeum's Good Design Award twice.
