Michele Menescardi
Michele Menescardi is an industrial designer born near Milan in 1979, the son of an engineer and a chemist. He graduated in industrial design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2004 and in 2005 co-founded MrSmith Studio with Marco Mascetti, a fellow graduate, working on products, packaging and graphics as one whole until 2014, when he set up on his own. His long collaboration with Calligaris began at MrSmith and continues: the Sextans and Tucana lamps, the Basil and Cream chairs and the Odessa rugs, then the Big Wave lamp and the Lazy armchair in 2014. Other clients include the Swatch Group, Ferrero, Driade and FontanaArte, and his Plust Van toy container for Euro3plast appeared in 2016. His style is playful and unconventional, aiming at objects that hold more than first meets the eye. On this site his pieces appear across Calligaris, Connubia and Natuzzi Italia.
