Cattelan Italia Axel includes adjustable-height swivel stools with folded upholstered seats and integrated footrests.
The original places its supporting column above a floor plate, while Axel X uses an open four-spoke base. Both adjust with a gas-lift mechanism. Fabric, leather or faux leather follows the shaped seat and back, and the exposed metal supports distinguish the two base formats beneath the same raised seating form.
Archirivolto was founded by Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci in Colle di Val d’Elsa in 1983. The practice began with architecture and interiors before developing an industrial design focus. Its work includes chairs, stools, sofas and office seating, with research into materials and manufacturing processes.
