Hee Welling
Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer, the son of a cabinetmaker, who grew up in his father's workshop in Jutland. He studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and took a master's in furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2003, the year he opened his studio in Copenhagen; he has since taught at the Academy. His relationship with HAY began at the Copenhagen furniture fair in 2004, and the About A Chair family that followed has grown to some thirty pieces and become one of the best-selling chairs in Scandinavia. The studio works across furniture, interiors, lighting and industrial design for HAY, Fredericia, &Tradition, Cane-line and LaPalma, aiming at simple, useful pieces with an honest use of materials. He has received the Bo Bedre award and the Good Design Award and was nominated Danish designer of the year in 2013 and 2014. On this site his chairs appear across LaPalma.
