Eugeni Quitllet
Eugeni Quitllet is a Spanish designer born in Ibiza in 1972. He studied design and architecture at La Llotja, the art school in Barcelona, and began in 1996 with installations for cultural institutions, including the Joan Miró Foundation. A meeting with Philippe Starck in Formentera in 2001 led to a close collaboration of a decade, with designs for Kartell, Magis and Alias among them. He opened his own studio in 2011 and launched his first outdoor collection for Vondom in 2014; for Foscarini he designed the Satellight lamp, a light suspended inside a glass bell. His work draws on drawing and sculpture and plays open and solid forms against each other. It has received the Good Design Award, the Red Dot, the German Design Award and a special recognition at the Compasso d'Oro, and in 2016 he was named Designer of the Year at Maison & Objet.
