Studio Sovet
Studio Sovet is the in-house design team of Sovet, the glass furniture house of the Treviso area. The company was set up at the end of the 1980s by six glassmakers to explore what glass could do in contemporary furniture, changed hands in 1990, and through the 1990s became known for bending and shaping glass in ways few others could. The Divetro collection of 2003, designed with the Barcelona studio Lievore Altherr Molina, was the turning point that took the house from a glass specialist to a full furniture maker; it now works in steel, aluminum, ceramics and wood as well, and its range runs from mirrors and display cabinets to dining tables, consoles and upholstered seating, sold in dozens of countries. The studio develops pieces across that range alongside the house's outside designers, bringing the knowledge of glassmaking to each. On this site Sovet's mirrors, tables and consoles include the studio's work.
