Giorgio Cattelan
Giorgio Cattelan is the founder of Cattelan Italia. He grew up in Thiene, a small town north of Vicenza, the youngest of seven brothers and the son of a well-known carpenter, and the woodworking around him as a child gave him a lasting feel for furniture. In 1979 he and his wife Silvia founded the company, he bringing the creative drive and she the organization; their first tables, in marble and glass, set the house's style and sold abroad from the start, and the first plant in Carrè followed in 1982. Their sons Paolo and Lorenzo joined in 1995, and Paolo has led the company since 2014, but Giorgio still designs for it: his pieces include the Heaven suspension lamps and the Eliot tables, which show off marble and ceramics, as well as the Lara, Flexa, Mia and Airport designs.
