To-kyo is a collection of seats created in recollection of the ancient tradition of wood modelling together with the essential nature of spherical processing made possible by recent technology. This design is therefore generated by a combination of expressions derived from two different methods of treating wood: curved plywood and solid wood. The plywood curving is strictly spherical while the solid wood is processed by turning. The combination of these processes creates the structure of these seats. Moulded polyurethane cushions, which fit the seat and back perfectly, complete the product.
