The Tape sofa – the first modular sofa designed by LAYER – is made up of a series of modernist blocks that can be joined together to create contrasting or complementary combinations to suit a variety of spaces and styles. Each modular brick – seats, backs and armrests – is divided into smaller fabric panels that are joined together by polyurethane tape. The technique draws inspiration from the sports industry, where tape is used in the production of snowboards, skis and rainwear. The pockets – connected to the armrest module with tape – can be used to hold papers, newspapers or remote controls.
Modular elements in fireproof, non-deformable polyurethane foam with differentiated density with wooden structure. Double stitching with heat-sealed tape, polypropylene insoles, seat/backrest hooks in painted steel. The armrest, code 0X7, has a pocket on the outside, as shown in the image. The collection is not removable.
