A collection of bookshelves based on simple shelves which appear divided in the middle and slightly shifted vertically. The new design relaxes the tension existing in the usual horizontal shelves and offers a further advantage: each shelf can also act as a bookend for books placed on the adjacent shelf.
The idea of the design can be compared to that applied for homes. The existing horizontal shelves are similar to buildings while the step shelf is more similar to a house with several storeys, where there are physical connections and relations between the different levels. Each shelf is attached to the structure without screws and can therefore easily be removed or replaced.
