Squash is a wall mirror with a black metal frame.
The encounter between the creative spirit of Paul Cocksedge, an internationally renowned designer and artist, and the experimental spirit of Magis, gave birth to Squash.
Much more than a collection of mirrors: “an exploration of the power of compression”, as the designer explains, a simple gesture that transforms matter and form, giving life to objects that seem to capture a movement.
An idea born from the desire to explore the boundary between three-dimensional and two-dimensional, between soft and rigid, between design and pure expression. Soft, molded and compressed shapes that suddenly become flat surfaces, without losing the sense of volume and tension.
This is how each Squash mirror develops its personality, like a fragment of a gesture crystallized in time that comes to life, evoking stories, emotions, human connections. There are shapes that recall a hug, others that suggest a greeting, others that seem to capture the sweetness of a parent holding a child in their arms.
Different materials that integrate with each other and a blurred boundary between the flat dimension and rigid staticity: the light play of volumes creates a new tactile and visual experience. Everyday objects come to life and dialogue with those who observe them.
The collection is composed of three mirrors (89.2×104 cm) characterized by a black metal frame that ideally contains the dynamic thrust of the mirrors, and two mirrors characterized respectively by one or two shelves that press on the sides. The first ones can be positioned both vertically and horizontally.
