SATURNO 48 By Alias

Saturno 48 is a coffee table with base made of four elements in MDF Valchromat® (mass-coloured and transparent lacquered) attached to a cylindrical structural steel element, glossy black lacquered.
Top available in:
glass 12 mm th. glass (acid-etched or smoked or extra-clear transparent)
natural stones 12 mm th. (Carrara marble, Travertino romano, Porfido Valcamonica).
The coffee table is available in the exclusive MB edition: black base, acid-etched glass top with small central hole.
With the Saturno collection, Alias renews its collaboration with the architect from Ticino, which began in the 1980s.
The table and coffee table system are characterised by an architectural design in an artful interplay of solids and voids that gives the product lightness and visual dynamism.
The solid central base characterises the entire collection: four mass-coloured MDF elements (available in black, light grey or brown “cioccolato”), are anchored to a shiny black powder-coated steel cylinder. The result is a sculptural structure, characteristic of Botta’s architectural language, on which the table tops rest, available in various sizes and finishes.
In the 72 cm height version the tabletop is available in three sizes (ø 140 cm, ø 160 cm, and ø 180 cm) and consists of a circular ring element offered in Carrara marble, acid-etched glass, or MDF in the same colour as the base. The tabletop, hollowed out in the centre, comes with a round transparent extra-clear glass insert, designed for those who wish to extend the usable surface. Like a skylight in architecture, this design allows light to pass through, illuminating the sculptural base and creating a refined interplay of transparencies. In the Saturno 48 coffee table, the single leg is proportionally smaller than the dining table and supports a top available in glass (acid-etched, smoked or extra-clear) or natural stone (Carrara marble, Val Camonica porphyry or Roman travertine). The Saturno collection is enriched with two exclusive versions expressing the perfect stylistic vision of the architect from Ticino. Saturno table MB Edition features a light grey MDF base with black edges, which supports an elegant acid-etched glass top with a diameter of 160 cm, completed by a refined central extra-clear glass insert. Saturno 48 low table MB Edition features an all-black MDF base that supports an acid-etched glass top with a central hole, a detail that recalls the original design of the project. The geometric purity of shapes and the rigorous compositional balance emphasise the continuity between design and architecture, the hallmark of the design language of Mario Botta.
