Simple, unexpected everyday elements converge to create beauty. One day, Marcel Wanders had the bizarre idea of designing a porcelain accessory in the soft, curvy shape of a pile of eggs. But what kind of object could that become? And how would he give it the desired shape? At last two brilliant ideas were born: why not boil a bunch of eggs, insert them in rubber condoms for protection and mould the porcelain around them? And why not create a bizarre, soft, resistant egg vase? In a matter of minutes, a ground-breaking idea was conceived and soon after the Egg Vase came to life, becoming a part of people’s homes, offices and lives.
