The Decumano collection is the result of a collaboration between designers Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni, a professional and personal relationship that has strengthened over time. To fulfil the brief requiring the creation of an executive and meeting table, the two designers chose to focus on defining a solid and innovative supporting structure, rather than opting for obvious aesthetic solutions. The result is a perpendicular intersection of lightweight beams that support the top, forming a simple and symbolic quadrilateral that references the layout of Roman cities. The name Decumano highlights this structural intersection, symbolising functionality and precision, reflecting Fantonis production and design approach.
The idea behind the design is to create the perfect balance between sturdiness and lightness, where the form itself becomes a distinctive element of the piece. In the collections most iconic versions, the top is made of clear glass to highlight the clarity of the design and allow the table to express its essence in a pure and direct way, without superfluous conceptual extras.
