The Clay armchair is the result of research by Zanellato/Bortotto and Moroso into ceramics and the desire to reproduce an ancient connection by returning to techniques and manufacturing processes that are now extremely rare.
The soft and enveloping lines of Clay combine with a unique element: a handcrafted ceramic panel that acts as a backrest, transforming the seat into a real functional sculpture . Each piece is handmade in the historic ceramic district of Nove (Vicenza), with two- and three-dimensional sheets decorated with precious enamels and lustres , enhancing the uniqueness of each creation.
The design of Clay surprises in the back, where the glazed ceramic reveals itself as a work of art set in a refined textile framework . The solid wood structure – available in oak or walnut – acts as a linear base, visually lifting the seat and giving it a sense of lightness and suspension.
