An ancestral form we seem to have always known, but with a surprising aspect: a perfect-imperfect that usually finds little room in the overall design landscape.
Hoba is a new outcome of the many years of research on blown glass conducted by the designers Ludovica + Roberto Palomba together with Foscarini.
An anti-geometric lamp, a collection in blown glass made of constantly different pieces, serially produced but with the unique characteristics of things made by hand.
The inspiration behind this new family of lamps comes from the meteorite for which it is named, the largest ever to fall to earth, discovered in Namibia in 1920. Hoba takes its cue from the asymmetrical and irregular form of that object distant in space and time.
Made in opaque blown glass with irregular concave features, it resembles a rock fallen from the sky, deformed by speed and crystallized in the moment of its flight. Hoba is a complete family of lamps that offer different perspectives. It comes in suspension, table, wall and ceiling versions, with the sizes small, midi, medium and large.
Hoba’s light is warm and enveloping, perfect for illuminating spaces on its own or in compositions that also take advantage of the four available sizes.

Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever. Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.
Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox, as things happen, not always the way you like it, not always in the preferred order.

Made possible by exploring innovative molded plywood techniques, Iskos-Berlin’s Soft Edge Chair blends strong curves with extreme lightness to create a three-dimensionality not usually possible with 2-D plywood.
