Varenne is a chair that represents a new interpretation of the typical monocoque chair in which a curved plywood structure is inserted on a steel tube base. These two elements, which combine the strength of the chair and the comfort of the seat, are enriched by the personality of cowhide. This is not only intended as the suitable material to finish the wood, but as the natural dress of the seat – adherent to each curve. This sartorial intent led to the design of folds, cuts and seams of the cowhide, which on the front edge of the seat is turned down to soften the contact with the legs and in the upper edge of the backrest bends back. In this case the fold is left deliberately abundant with the aim of creating a handle to lift and move the chair easily. Materials and colors of Varenne are customizable.
